Carol Moseley Braun - former Chicago mayoral candidate, former U.S. Senator, and the Chicago embarrassment that just never seems to go away - has been accused of having have been dishonest during her Chicago mayoral campaign. She even appears to have duped Mayor Rahm Emanuel, the victor in the mayoral election, into assisting her with her campaign debt.
Braun allegedly did not disclose where a huge amount of campaign money went – the amount being $315,000. The Illinois Board of Elections has asked Braun numerous times to detail how she spent the money but she refuses to cooperate with a response.
When talking to the media, Braun blamed former campaign treasurer and supposed-friend, Billie Paige, by saying:
If Billie Paige neglected to do so, it doesn’t surprise; she is elderly and overwhelmed.
Paige, however, says she did her job.
Braun had several temper tantrums during the campaign, especially when questioned about ethics. After Braun was elected Senator in 1992, she had an overwhelming amount of troubles surrounding the financial ethics of that period in her political life as well.
Braun was soundly defeated by Rahm Emanuel in February of 2011.
