Carnival Cruise Line introduces a new added value, entertainment concert series to eight select cruise destinations. The "Carnival Live" concert series offers passengers top-notch entertainers performing shipboard shows.
Other shipboard concerts include, Chicago, Daughtry, Foreigner, Gavin DeGraw, Jewel, Kansas, Lady Antebellum, LeAnn Rimes, Martina McBride, Olivia Newton-John, REO Speedwagon, STYX and Trace Adkins.
The concert series may create a renewed interest in the cruise line, attract new customers and combat the negative publicity the company suffered, due to operational failures on three of it's luxury cruise ships.
The ships' failures left passengers high and dry in the ocean, while the super-sized ships were plagued with everything from no power and electricity to untreated waste spewing shipboard.
Hudson, who rose to fame from "American Idol" told Billboard, "I used to work on a cruise ship, a long time ago. That's what I did before I did 'American Idol.' "Headlining the Carnival series is like a full circle," she added.
Currently, 49 shows are confirmed for 2014. Up first, the band Styx will perform an April 7, show on the Carnival Fantasy in Nassau, Bahamas. Hudson is scheduled to perform June 18, on Carnival Ecstasy and June 19, on Carnival Breeze, both in Cozumel, Mexico.
