Carnival Cruise Line expands presence in Texas

City of Galveston

Back in 2000, Carnival Cruise Line pioneered year-round cruising from Galveston, Texas. Today, they are Texas' largest cruise operator with two Galveston-based ships carrying more than 450,000 passengers annually. Carnival Magic offers seven-day Caribbean cruises and Carnival Triumph offers four and five day departures to Mexico from this great Texas port. Furthermore, Carnival is expanding their operations in Galveston next year when Carnival Freedom launches seven day sailings to the Caribbean in February 2015, marking the first time that a cruise line has deployed three year-round ships in Texas.

These ships feature a wide variety of innovations that are part of Carnival's 2.0 product enhancement program which includes the Caribbean themed RedFrog Pub, Guy's Burger Joint and the Punchliner Comedy Club presented by George Lopez. Other attractions which vary by ships include awesome water slides, miniature golf courses, and other exciting top-deck attractions. The Carnival 2.0 is a program that will dramatically transform its on-board guest experience to deliver even more memorable vacations. The multi-year effort will offer guests mouth-watering new dining choices, more exciting bars and lounges, and captivating entertainment options through innovative partnerships and new branded spaces. In the first phase alone, which extends through the end of 2015, Carnival will invest more than $500 million across its fleet.

To highlight their strong presence in Texas, Carnival recently announced a partnership with the Frisco RoughRiders, the Double-A affiliate of the Texas Rangers that plays at Dr. Pepper Ballpark in Frisco, Texas. This multi-year partnership marks Carnival's first ever relationship with a professional baseball franchise.

Just a five hour drive from Shreveport, Carnival's presence in Galveston will continue to be a benefit to our community, providing an exciting vacation opportunity.
