Carnie Wilson disorder: Singer tweets to fans that she has Bell's Palsy

Carnie Wilson has a disorder which causes the paralysis to the muscles on the side of her face. MSN reported in March 18 that the co-founder of the musical group Wilson Phillips tweeted the message to her fans that she is fighting this disorder.

According to WebMD, Bell's Palsy causes the paralysis to the side of the face caused by damage to the nerves. While some mistaken the disorder for a stroke, it is not caused by a stroke and there is no connection between Bell's Palsy and a stroke. The affliction occurs suddenly, and can last for a few weeks.

In an older case, WWE announced Jim Ross suffered from a Bell's Palsy outbreak that cost him his job with the wrestling promotion for a short time. His face has never fully recovered from the outbreak, which was more severe than most.

The Carnie Wilson disorder is being fought with acupuncture, which the singer said is improving her condition. She called it scary and unfortunate but looks at it like a challenge she will fight until it goes away.

Carnie Wilson, 44, is the daughter of Beach Boys founder Brian Wilson.
