Carmen Marc Valvo Fall 2014 collection: Embracing the powerful warrior woman

Recently, Carmen Marc Valvo showcased his Fall 2014 collection at the Theatre at Lincoln Center. Celebrities in the front row included Andrea Powell, Vanessa Williams, Katie Couric, Daisy Fuentes, and Adepero Oduye. Valvo’s collection drew inspiration from the era of the Ottoman Empire and represented the strong, persevering woman who would fight in battle and for love. Models walking the runway even sported warrior ponytails to coincide with this inspiration. The collection focused on furs, lace, leather, suede, metallic fabrics, and predominantly dark yet vibrant colors.

All of the looks were impressive, but highlights included the following: a gunmetal and black metallic cocktail dress, a black diamond mink vest layered over a steel long sleeve tunic top and paired with leather pants, a lustrous gold and black lace gown, and a ruby and black silk gown with metallic touches. The collection was fiercely powerful and full of character. What an impressive range of looks!
