Actress turned singer Carmen Electra was a fixture at Fashion Week this season. We spotted her at the The Blonds presentation at Milk Studios, Badgley Mischka, at the Conair Style 360 YARNZ launch party, Betsey Johnson, Pamella Roland, and Vivienne Tam.
We spoke with Electra before the Vivienne Tam presentation. Check out what she had to say about her new music project. Electra exclusively premiered her new single on E! this week.
Q: Tell us about your new single.
Carmen Electra: I have a single that’s out. It’s called “I Like It Loud” produced by Bill Hamel. And you can check it out on iTunes.
Q: Is it leading to a full album?
Carmen Electra: Yes, I’m working on the EP right now. I’ve been actually in the studio with Nick and Luciana and so that’s been a really cool experience. Bill Hamel produced “I Like It Loud.” We shot the video here in New York.
Q: What sound are you going for with the album?
Carmen Electra: Dance music. It’s all club.
Q: Who are some dance DJ's that you admire?
Carmen Electra: Oh, David Guetta all day long. Of course Afrojack. DJ Chuckie, you know, Skrillex, hell yeah.
Q: Why was now that time to work on a music project?
Carmen Electra: Why not? I started off with music. It’s a true love and passion of mine and I feel happier than ever. I love being able to express myself in a completely different way and I feel like music is more about your heart, you know. It’s not playing a role. Although I still love to do all that stuff, too. I love to perform, I love to be on stage, I love to feel the energy and give the energy back. And so I’m just having a good time with it, putting the whole show together with my dancers.
Vivienne Tam's presentation was styled by TRESemme, make-up was provided by MAC and manicures by Incoco. This season, Tam's collection was about cultural dialogue, change and awakenings. It was inspired by the conceptual pinnings of the punk movement; questioning the status quo and celebrating individuality, but also uniting in our cultural identities, embracing paradox or life's essence: yin and yang.
