Carmelo Anthony rumors were addressed by the star of the New York Knicks himself Wednesday (Jan. 29). La La Anthony started the rumors by stating that she felt her husband was going to re-sign with the team during the offseason. According to a report from late Wednesday from CBS, he supports everything that she had to say. It's certainly a good move on his part, even if it doesn't settle the debate about what he will do next.

Paul Pierce Could Go Back To Boston Celtics?

The 2014 NBA All-Star took to Twitter to state, "That's my wife. I support her. I support what she said. I don't think she said anything wrong. It's a good thing for her to say that. Go get the book." He made the smart move by walking in step with the comments his wife and friends have made about his basketball future and it clearly shows that he knows how to handle the press. It isn't going to stop the stories about what he could do in free agency this offseason though.

Much like how LeBron James and Dwight Howard kept analysts and fans guessing about what they would do when free agency came calling, the various Carmelo Anthony rumors show he is keeping his options open. The New York Knicks can offer the most money up-front in a new deal, but most players want to at least test free agency to see what else is out there. It's also a gambit to make sure the front office in New York is doing everything possible to field a competitive team.

Though the Knicks have definitely struggled this season, the team is on a three-game winning streak and has drawn to within one game of the eight playoff slot in the Eastern Conference. Making the postseason and getting to the second round could go a long way to convincing him to continue calling Madison Square Garden home court.
