Carly Rae Jepsen's “Call Me Maybe” has garnered worldwide acclaim from the United States to Afghanistan, according to a Feb. 5 Newsday report. Even “[d]ogs have barked the whole song,” says the publication.
The song became so popular that even the Grammys took notice. The 27-year-old singer has been nominated for song of the year and best pop vocal performance, and could take home a Grammy or two at the Feb. 10 awards show.
The singer herself is excited that the song became quite a hit with everyone, including her fellow hit maker, Katie Perry. According to Newsday, Jepsen commented on her nomination from Los Angeles where she was picking out a dress to wear to the Grammys. “I was gunning maybe for Top 10 on iTunes. That was my little, mini secret goal.” In addition to her nominations, the singer is also a presenter at the Grammys.
“To be really honest with you, leading up to every Grammy weekend except for this one, I was getting comfy in my PJs with my popcorn bowl and deciding whose dress I liked the best,” she said. “So it'll be different for me to actually put on a dress of my own.”
Jepsen is also making waves on the fashion front with a new Candie’s campaign. She is the brand's new face for 2013, taking over from Lea Michele. “I feel honoured to be the next Candie's girl,” the singer said. “It's amazing and a dream come true to be in the running along with all these other famous women... It's a dream come true.”
Other Candie’s faces include Britney Spears, Hayden Panetierre and Fergie.
