Carly Rae Jepsen cancels performance for Boy Scouts in support of LGBT community

Carly Rae Jepsen confirmed on Twitter this morning that she has canceled her performance for the Boy Scouts of America due to the organization’s stance on gay rights, she said.

The “Call Me Maybe” singer was scheduled to perform in July at the National Scout Jamboree in Mount Hope, W.V.

“As an artist who believes in equality for all people, I will not be participating in the Boy Scouts of America Jamboree this summer...” Jepsen tweeted at 6:25 a.m.

In additional tweets just a few minutes later, she went on to add: “I always have and will continue to support the LGBT community on a global level ... and stay informed on the ever changing landscape in the ongoing battle for gay rights in this country and across the globe.”

Train also was scheduled to perform at the show but canceled their performance, as well, for the same reason’s as Jepsen.
