Your Sunday Fun-Day prescription: rock out to local music, nosh on British pub food, dance, laugh, and win great prizes - all while earning some angel points because it all benefits a good cause.

This Sunday, April 27, the place to be for all this feel-good fun is the Stag and Lion Pub & Grille (850 Tamarack Ave) in Carlsbad from 2-7 P.M. The second annual concert and fundraising event benefits the Aron Gunner Memorial Scholarship Foundation for Carlsbad High seniors. This event was a huge success in its first year, raising $10,000 which was awarded to 10 Carlsbad High School college-bound seniors.

This year's line-up will feature several bands including Carlsbad’s own Trouble in the Wind and Jesse Lee of The Paragraphs. A $10 donation will be collected at the door, and there will also be a raffle and auction to raise money for the fund. Silent auction items and raffle prizes include tickets to Chargers games, Legoland, Disneyland, Sea World, Knott's Berry Farm, San Diego Zoo, Catalina boat trips, retail and restaurant gift cards, and much more.

The Gunner family are long-time community members. Sons Aron and Cory went to Carlsbad’s schools for Kindergarten through 12th grade before attending college in San Diego. Both parents are teachers; mom Carole is retired from Carlsbad Unified School District, where she taught at the elementary, middle, and high school levels. The scholarship foundation was started in honor of the memory of their son Aron. Candidates for the scholarship should share the qualities that Aron exemplified during his life as a student at CHS and San Diego State until his death in July 2012 in a car accident. He was an award-winning member of the CHS broadcast journalism team, lettered in wrestling, and was an Eagle Scout. College-bound CHS seniors who show strong sportsmanship and family values along with a sense of friendship and adventure are eligible.

This event is the sole fundraising effort for the scholarships. Join other community members and be a part of its success, enjoying great local food and music, having a good time while giving back.
