Carlos Vives has returned to win many more hearts including his native Colombia. It was proved Thursday night at Colombia’s Premios Nuestra Tierra (Our Land Awards).
The vallenato artist after eight years of silence from his music career has made a tremendous successful comeback in the release of two new singles "Volví a Nacer" and "Como Le Gusta a Tu Cuerpo" from his soon to be released album "Corazón Profundo." And as the saying goes the proof is in the pudding, Carlos received six Premios Nuestra Tierra for Best Song of the Year "Volví a Nacer," Best Artist of the Year, Best Solo or Tropical Group Pop Artist of the Year, Best Colombian Artist Web Page of the Year, Best Colombian Artist Musical Video of the Year, and Best Tropical Performance of the Year "Volví a Nacer."
Carlos Vives opened the award show with his hit "Volví a Nacer" – a Vallenato with a flare of pop, rhythmic beats and a meaningful song. "Volví a Nacer" and "Como Le Gusta a Tu Cuerpo" still remain at the top of Billboard Latin charts being heard continuously in Latin America and in the United States after their release in the last few months.
Carlos Vives is one of the most influential artists of modern music. He has more than 14 million records sold, four Grammy awards winning his first Grammy and Latin Grammy in 2002, 18 Grammy and Latin Grammy nominations, multiple platinum and gold albums. An artist committed to his people as UNICEF’s Ambassador of Goodwill and was part of The Voice of Colombia in 2012.
"Corazón Profundo” recorded in Los Angeles, Bogota, Santa Marta and Miami is a tropical pop album with the combination of old and new sounds of the best Caribbean rhythms, vallenatos, cumbias, champetas and porros. The album also includes a duet sung with Brazilian Michel Teló.
While Carlos Vives' "Corazón Profundo” album is scheduled to be released April 23 he continues with his appearances in Latin America and in the United States – March 17 performance at the closing ceremony of the Central American Games, promoting his released singles in Mexico, March 21 at Festival Ritmoson Latino, a concert in Bogota, Colombia March 23 and of course will make act of presence in the United States for a Billboard Latin Music Conference Q & A event April 23 in Miami.
