Santana. The name that needs no second mention nor clarification, has announced that he will be doing things a little bit differently starting up in late May. Carlos Santana always loved touring different cities and countries throughout his career and never was too fond of the extended stay concert style. Nevertheless, Santana has agreed to an extended stay concert at the Las Vegas' Hard Rock Hotel & Casino's new joint, coincidentally named, The Joint. This will be Santana's new home throughout the rest of '09 and expected to last until late 2010.
Santana is quoted saying, "It's a milestone for me because I always said I would never do certain things, yet what is very different is this is the year I decided to do all the things that I said I would never do. It's a way of coming into a room that I thought was dark and I would be afraid and I actually bring my light to it."(Associated Press). Regardless of the reasoining behind Santana's decision; it has been made, and it has a purpose.
"Supernatural Santana: A Trip Through The Hits, will without a doubt be a huge ticket in the upcoming months as well as carry a high demand into the new year. As with most extended stay concerts, only the first batch of dates have been released, but you can expect a little over 30 dates for each year. The announced dates include the commencement of the tour on the 27th of May as well as May 28, 30-31, June 3-4, 6-7, 10-11, 13-14, July off, August 26-27, 29-30, September 2, and 4-6. 36 shows fly by, so be sure to secure a ticket as soon as possible if your planning to be in Vegas around any of those dates.
As far as pricing goes, thus far The Joint has announced that tickets will range from $79 - $299 and are available at the Hard Rock Box Office and Ticketmaster, but you can also find seats with secondary ticket holders as well as on Ebay, with the technologically savvy fans who put up their seats for bidding. Santana's smooth style will surely hit city of sin with vengeance as Im sure this will an extended tour to remember. Im hoping to get out there this summer and be one of the fortunate ones and see this master of music at his best... Live.
