The jury came back today with a guilty conviction for Carla Hughes of Madison County, Mississippi. Hughes killed a pregnant woman so she could be with the woman's fiancé Keyon Pittman.
Hughes now faces the death penalty or life in prison without the possibility of parole for the slaying of Avis Banks and her unborn child. Pittman was engaged to Banks, but having a sexual relationship with Hughes.
Earlier today jurors in the case asked the judge if they could have Carla Hughes called to the stand; and of course, the Judge said no, and that they should refer to their jury instructions. Carla Hughes stated previously that she would not testify in her own case.
The trial was concluded Monday evening, and both sides had strong arguments; and they jury came back with a guilty conviction within 24 hours.
Prosecutors said that the evidence points towards only one person...Carla Hughes. Banks blood was found on shoes that were taken from Hughes home, and Hughes gun matched bullets found at the murder scene.
Just a few days ago, Scott Lee Kimball pled guilty to four counts of murder; for killing two Utah and two Colorado residents. He pled guilty in a Colorado courtroom on October 8th.

Yes, everyone makes mistakes... AND WE PAY FOR THEM, be it in this life or the next. The possibility that her child will grow up without his mother is tragic, but no more or less tragic than the end of the victims. At least her child is ALIVE. Had someone killed her child, Carla would want justice. I understand your attempt to spare her, but Carla must answer for what she's done. Unfortunately when you commit an irreversible crime against another human being, you don't get to decide how you pay for it. Carla should ask God for forgiveness and leave behind a legacy of honest, genuine remorse and willing rdemption for her child.

MR.DARYL COLES.REALLY I FEEL LIKE MR.PITTMAN IS RESPONSIBLE. NO WAY CARLA HUGES ACTED ALONE.HIS FAKE CRYING ON THE WITNES STAND ;REALLY SENDS OUT A MESSAGE THAT HE KNOWS MORE THAN WHAT HE IS ACTUALLY SAYING ABOUT THIS CASE. I FEEL LIKESOME SORT .OFCHARGES SHOULD BE FILED AGAINST HIM. FOOLISH
i know for a fact carla huges didnt do this, man everybody is out their rabbit mind if they thnk she did it. keyon you low life u need to pay for this and trust yours is comin real soon. man u a low life so call a man. you more like a female to me. how could kill your own wife and unborn child. my heart goes out to the banks family but at the same tyme i am on carla hughes side all the way. And i hope and pray when they do the appeal they found her not guilty and keyon guilty casue he did it. If anybody killed my husband i wouldnt have gone and got married a couple of months later then have kids then get married again within 3 years and then skip state everytime the court dates come around. people people are yall serious bout this. that low life pittman did and he know he did and he will pay for it. I think she did it! Thats why she didnt testify against Keyon, because she would be admitting guilt. Her defense was trying paint the picture as if she was there, but she was there!!!
keyon pittman you will get yours i have been praying for carla and her family every since those rednecks convicted carla for a crime she didnt committ that you committed when you get to prison they are waiting on you to rape you, you will pay for lying and committing those murders you framed carla i pray that God doesnt have mercy on your soul when God is for carla who is the world you and a racist jury judge and procecuters against her they are waiting on you in prison
