Carl Bloch exhibit in Provo, Utah

As stated in the April 2011 edition of the church magazine, Ensign: “Brigham Young University Museum of Art is hosting Carl Bloch: The Master’s Hand—an exhibit of Bloch’s paintings and etchings.   Admission is free, but visitors must register for tickets—at CarlBloch.byu.edu” (p.43).  The exhibit is through May 7, 2011.

Carl Bloch was a Danish painter that lived from 1834-1890.  His art has been a great influence in the LDS church.  The exhibit has paintings of the life of Christ and also includes larger-than-life altarpieces.  “The focal point of the exhibition is five large altar paintings….The exhibition will also include other religious works, as well as portraits, landscapes, genre, and history paintings from many of Denmark's museums" (http://carlbloch.byu.edu/exhibition.php) .

Wards everywhere have been attending this exhibit and rave about Bloch’s art and the spirit that is felt there.  This is a must-see exhibit!  It is a good family activity or group activity, especially this week with all the rain that is supposed to be coming to Utah County and Wasatch County.  So don’t miss out!
