Caring for someone with dementia: 3 East Bay forgetfulness events this week

This week in the East Bay, three programs on forgetfulness and caregivers are being presented.

Fremont- On Lok Lifeways

The Family Caregiver Aliance and On Lok Lifeways are presenting a free, two hour workshop for caregivers entitled Caring for Someone with DeMEntia on Wednesday, May 18 from 4pm to 6pm at On Lok Lifeways, 159 Washington Blvd., in Fremont.

The presenter of this workshop is Donna Schempp, LCSW, Interim Pogram Director of the Family Caregiver Alliance.

Since caregiving of a family member may extend over many years, and many caregivers tend to set their lives aside during this time, participants are invited to stay open to change, to think about other ways of handling the caregiving situation, and learn how to take action for oneself by learning a few tools to help you take care of you! Subjects covered include: steps to identify sources of stress and how to manage them, negative self-talk, inability to ask for help, and identifying what we can and cannot change.
