Carey Mulligan showed off her latest red carpet look at the London Film Critics' Circle Awards on Thursday night. The established actress wore a Roland Mouret spring 2012 dress that had the critics immediately sharing their displeasure of the gown.
The deep red dress fit perfectly and had upside down white tulip appliques around the center of the gown. Mildly distracting, it seemed to offset the gown in a visually disproportionate way. While the tulips probably could have passed, the mass amount of fabric bunched up under Carey Mulligan’s arms looked extraordinarily awkward. Appearing to look as though it was caught, the actual structure of the gown made the gatherings intentional and there was little Mulligan could do to make it look so dramatic.
The London Film Critics' Circle Awards, similar to the award shows stateside, are a chance for the European countries to see celebrities up close and personal. Walking the red carpet, the actresses share their best looks with the fans and critics. While Carey Milligan didn’t appear worried about the negative press of the gown, she didn’t need to be as the fans loved to see her on the red carpet.
