Deciding to become a licensed cosmetologist was not a tough decision for me, though it was one that took sometime for me to see. I began earning an income from hairstyling services at fifteen. I had yet to even fathom the hard work, dedication, and selflessness that it takes to be successful in the beauty industry.
After becoming professionally involved in the industry eight years later, I was most excited that the career field that I chose (and it chose me) prided itself on loyalty, commitment, honesty, trust, and good health. It devastatingly seems that more than half of the industry today does not live by or hold themselves to the same standard as our predecessors.
I feel that if we can all focus on our expert customer service to any and every potential client, us cosmetologists, barbers, manicurists, barbers, estheticians, and instructors, will be that much closer to the true goals and ideals of the structured foundation our predecessors founded for us.
