Dr. Bill Gavin came up with a simple three-rule diet plan that worked for him
Just in case you didn’t know, weight loss can be very difficult to do. DUH! You know it, I know it, and it is incredibly frustrating for so many who have been on and off so many of these plans over the years they’ve become professional dieters. But why does it have to be so difficult? Today’s podcast interview guest broke it all down to three main points to bring simplicity into a concept that many people overcomplicate.
In Episode 336 of “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show with Jimmy Moore,” we hear from Dr. Bill Gavin, author of a book called No White At Night that calls for a three-pronged way to eat:
1. Eat 3 meals a day.
2. Eat protein at every meal.
3. Eat no white foods at night.
Dr. Gavin created this way of eating to combat his own personal weight gain as well as to help his mother dealing with diabetes. Hear him discuss how The Zone diet by Dr. Barry Sears influenced him, why not no white at all, why Oprah Winfrey and others habitually struggle with their weight, how to determine the tipping point for people to make changes, why low-fat foods are so insidious, his support for lean protein over fatty cuts of meat, his reaction to my positive experience on a high-fat, low-carb diet, why he thinks genetics come into play with lipid results, why he believes a low-to-moderate carb diet is ideal in the long-term for the majority of people, how he describes his way of eating to others, and the trends of those who maintain their weight. This conversation isn’t exactly what you and I believe on every point, but you have to appreciate how he breaks down the diet into three basic points.

Discuss what you thought about what he shared in the show notes section of Episode 336. Pick up a copy of No White At Night and bookmark Dr. Gavin’s official web site for the book to keep up with what he is doing. Coming up on Thursday, you’ll not want to miss Dr. Nancy Appleton who will share about her book entitled Suicide by Sugar: A Startling Look at Our #1 National Addiction. I can’t wait for you to hear what she has to share!
GOOD NEWS! For those of you who have been e-mailing me about accessing past podcast interviews, we are excited to let you know they are back online again. Shortly after our 200th episode in mid-2009, we had a complete server meltdown at our podcast web site and have since reposted most of our back episodes. But a few have still missing and some even lack the proper show notes. Due to popular public demand, we are now making available the audio of the episodes we haven’t yet had a chance to formally republish. This “Archive” section is where you can get them until we are able to republish these episodes. Once they are reposted, the audio link to the MP3 will be removed from the “Archive” page and become searchable via the search box near the top of each page. Thank you for all of your wonderful support of “The Livin’ La Vida Low-Carb Show!”
