Cardio Kickboxing: a fun, rejuvenating, and empowering way to get fit

Kickboxing or Cardio Kickboxing is another fun, rejuvenating, and empowering way to get fit. It is also a great way to add variety to your workouts. It will get your heart pumping by using a mixture of martial arts, boxing and aerobics. You can even find Kickboxing on a DVD so you can do it in your own home!

Cardio Kickboxing has become very popular in the last few of years and is offered at most gyms. Most classes are an hour long and should include a 10-15 minute warm-up, 30 minute Cardio Kickboxing workout and a 10-15 minute cool down with stretching. According to the American Council of Exercise (ACE) you can burn around 350-450 calories per class.

Before taking a class observe the class to make sure it is something that you would enjoy. You should also make sure that the instructor is a qualified Martial Arts instructor and is a nationally certified fitness instructor, such as a Group Fitness Instructor from A.C.E. Cardio Kickboxing is a high intensity exercise. If it has been a while since you have worked out or you are not use to an hour class you may want to start with a class that is a lower intensity or an introductory cardio kickboxing class before jumping right into a high intensity class. Start off gradually and go at your own pace. Wear loose fitting clothing and make sure that you drink plenty of water.
