The MLB playoffs 2013 live stream and televised games on Wednesday, Oct. 16 include one game in which a World Series representative may be produced. The Cardinals visit the Dodgers for Game 5, in what is now a "must-win" situation for the home team. St. Louis took a 3-1 series lead on Tuesday night, and now Los Angeles will need to figure out a way to get back into this series again. The 2013 NLCS Game 5 will be presented on TV and live streaming online via TBS and MLB's website.
An ESPN.com report from Oct. 16 indicates that the Dodgers will put one of their top pitchers on the mound again, as Zack Greinke gets the start. St. Louis will counter with Joe Kelly, who will try to help close things out for his team. With a win, the Cardinals head to the World Series as the 2013 National League champions, and rightfully so as the owned the best record in the NL this past season. It would also make their second appearance in the past three seasons, and third in the past ten years. Ironically, the Cardinals lost in the 2004 World Series where they were swept by the Boston Red Sox.
However, Game 5 still needs to happen first, and the LA Dodgers will look to try to climb back into the series again. Greinke will be trying to prevent the Cards' batters from going off, bringing his 0-1 postseason record and 2.57 ERA to the mound. Greinke told the media with regards to containing the Cardinals' hitters:
"If you make really good pitches it's not much the offense can do, but they haven't had many like lucky hits so they're probably due for a couple like flairs and groundballs that just no one can get to."
The Dodgers will also hope their hometown fans can get them going again. Home field has been great for young rookie sensation Yasiel Puig as well. He's hit .360 there during the past season versus .284 on the road. Puig was among the batters that came up big two games ago to give LA their first win in the series. Can he do it again on Wednesday, or will others step up?
Odds makers believe in Greinke, as they've given the Dodgers as high as a -170 for their line as favorites today. The Cardinals are +155 at various sports books about four hours before game time. The over/under is set to 7 runs in a series which hasn't seen any big offensive explosions from either team really.
Wednesday night's Cardinals vs. Dodgers Game 5 has a start time of 4 p.m. EST. TBS will televise the game for fans on cable and satellite services around the country. In addition, the game will be live streaming on the MLB's website through their MLB Postseason TV subscription service. The service costs $4.99 and allows United States and Canadian viewers to see "alternate angle viewing" of the NLCS games online. See more info here at MLB.com.
