The 2013 NLCS moves to the West Coast for Game 3 and the LA Dodgers are hoping a change of scenery will help them in their best-of-seven series vs. the St. Louis Cardinals. Trailing 0-2 in their best-of-seven series to the Red Birds, LA is in a must win situation tonight, but the odds of a comeback are already growing slim.
According to MLB.com on Oct. 14 St. Louis will send ace Adam Wainwright to the mound tonight while the Dodgers will counter with Hyun-Jin Ryu. The first pitch is scheduled for 8:00 p.m. EST.
The Dodgers are more than capable of making a comeback, but losing the first two games of the 2013 National League Championship Series with your two aces Zack Greinke and Clayton Kershaw, make it all the more difficult.
However don't tell that to LA manager Don Mattingly.
Donnie baseball believes all it will take is some key hits, and just one win to put LA back on track.
"It's a matter of us ... getting the outs when you need them and being able to get that key hit. This series, up to this point, we haven't gotten the key hit. We weren't able to put the run up when we needed it. If we get two key hits over the last two days, we win two. We're walking out of here up 2-0. It didn't happen, so we're walking out of here down two."
LA was the hottest team in the second half of the season, but if they lose tonight, the odds of advancing to the 2013 World Series are going to be astronomical.
This game is obviously huge for the Dodgers, but it is also just as big for St. Louis. So far the "best pitchers" going for either team have lost. Greinke and Kershaw were expected to win, given their records and ability, yet they came up short.
Now it's Adam Wainwright who is expected to win. That's pressure folks.
If the Dodgers beat St.Louis' best pitcher tonight, not only are they back in the series, but their confidence will be sky high.
