The Cardinals have announced this morning that they will be extending the contract of General Manger John Mozeliak for an additional 2 seasons; he'll now be with the club until 2018. A press conference announcing the signing will be today at 11:30 am CST.

“Over the last six seasons Mo has done an outstanding job leading our baseball operations,” said Cardinals Chairman Bill DeWitt Jr. “By extending Mo’s contract with the club, we look forward to continuing our approach which emphasizes excellence at the Major League level, supported by a strong player procurement and player development program.”

Mozeliak is in his 19th year with the organization and has been the GM for 6 years. The team has 1 world championship, 1 National League championship, and 4 playoff appearances under his regime. He was the MLB Executive of the Year last season and Baseball America has named the Cardinals the Organization of the Year in 2011 and 2013 while he's been running the club.

Mozeliak's recently been locking up core members of the team, such as Yadier Molina, Allen Craig and Matt Carpenter.
