Injuries happen in football games all the time, and sometimes, they are worse than others. Other times, they're just completely stomach-turning, and that is what Arizona Cardinals safety Rashad Johnson suffered during the team's 31-7 loss to the New Orleans Saints on Sunday, Sept. 22, 2013. Johnson actually ended up losing the top of his middle finger.
Kent Somers of the "Arizona Republic" got on Twitter and revealed that Johnson had actually lost the top of his right middle finger during the loss to the Saints on Sunday. Somers actually posted:
"S rashad Johnson lost top of right middle finder Sunday. Took glove off and finger was still in"
It has since been revealed that Rashad Johnson had to have surgery on Sunday evening to fix the issue because there was serious risk of infection. The main problem being is that when he lost the top of his finger, it exposed the bone.
There isn't a lot known about when or how the injury happened, but Johnson didn't seem too worried about it.
Even with everything missing above his first knuckle, Johnson returned to the game and kept on playing. He wanted to wait until after the game to have surgery done. It is not clear how long Johnson will be out.
