The Cardinals are facing the Marlins at noon CST today; Jenifer Langosch provides a look at the lineup:

  • 2B Kolten Wong
  • 3B Dan Descalso
  • LF Matt Holliday
  • 1B Matt Adams
  • C Yadier Molina
  • RF Shane Robinson
  • CF Peter Bourjos
  • SS Pete Kozma
  • SP Lance Lynn

The Cardinals announced last night via press release that Randal Grichuk has been sent to Memphis; the move isn’t surprising as he’s got a little more work to do and he’s not on the 40-man roster. Previous scouting reports had him ranging from a 4th outfielder to an MLB regular; he’s looked like a regular at this point. He needs to cut down on his strikeouts though. The outfield in Memphis is going to be pretty good this year, with Grichuk in right, Oscar Taveras in center and Stephen Piscotty in left.

Speaking of press releases, the Cardinals also announced that Jamba Juice, the Fudgery and Majestic Athletics are set to join Ballpark Village. There are still a lot of jokes about how long it’s taken to get BPV going, but they are really getting some good places moving in. Opening day should be a good time.

Mike Matheny announced how the rotation was set yesterday; Adam Wainwright was announced as the opening day starter weeks ago, but we now know that starters 2-5 will be Michael Wacha, Lance Lynn, Shelby Miller and Joe Kelly in that order. This gets Wacha the home opener. Kelly will start the game against Memphis on Friday. Miller will be staying in Jupiter after the team leaves so he can get a minor league game in, which will keep him on normal rest.

A lot of people have been calling for Stephen Piscotty to make the major league roster, but what’s the rush? Piscotty was drafted just under 2 years ago, is not on the 40-man roster, and does have some work to do; he doesn’t flash the prototypical power from a corner outfielder, which isn’t huge, and still has a little work to do defensively. The best thing for him is every day at bats in Triple A.
