The imposter who dressed himself up as one of the cardinals should have done his homework before crashing this meeting. The man looked like a cross between a gangster and a “Sesame Street" character with his choice of attire that he wore for the occasion. According to Fox News live on Tuesday, March 5, 2013, telling the others in the group that he came from a church that doesn’t exist was a dead giveaway!
It looked as if this man might have borrowed a purple scarf out of his mother or wife’s closet and wrapped it around his waist. The length of his scarf was much shorter than what the real cardinals were sporting. According to CBS News on Tuesday, when the man was found to be an imposter, he was hustled out by the Swiss guards, but he left with no harm being done.
Fox News reports that the man's black robe was knee-length and the cross he wore was all wrong. He sported a black hat that looked like it came out of gangster movie. His bizarre attire should have been a clue that something was not right with this man. The man dressed up and walked into the place where the church officials were having a meeting ahead of electing a new pope. This is a meeting many would have loved to infiltrate and maybe get the scoop on the cardinal's thoughts on who the next pope should be.
According to CBS, this guy managed to slip by the Swiss guards and up to the room where the cardinals were having their meeting. He managed to mingle for a while until a few of the more alert in the group noticed his scarf and strange looking hat. This is when the security walked him out of the meeting place, but not before he got his picture taken as he posed with one of the Italian cardinals.
