I can not believe the amount of hype being used to push the Carano vs Cyborg fight on Showtime tonight. It seems the World can not get enough about these two great women fighters, but is it really about the fight? I don't think so. It is really about Gina Carano and her being good looking and sexy. No one cares about women MMA, it has the same popularity as women's pro basketball, women's golf, women's football. It only gets attention because one or two of the ladies are "hot" and can play a little.  Look at the millions of dollars Anna Kournikova has made not from winning tennis matches, but just for being good looking and playing a little tennis. She has made a lot more than Billy Jean King ever made and never won anything.

Let the unattracive ladies start winning everything and watch how much coverage these fights or games get, None! I am not being a male chauvinest. I am only telling the truth. Attractive women get ratings no matter what the sports or TV show. Unattractive ladies get no ratings, no matter what the skill level. Just ask yourself if Cyborg was fighting a unattractive mma lady fighter, who would care? I am  just making a point, beauty sells, and ugly doesn't. Gina Carano is not making a giant statement for women's MMA, she is making a giant statement for beautiful women who can fight. If she wins, it definitely will help her career and get more women involved. If she loses, it is a huge loss to Strikefarce and women's MMA, because no one cares about Cyborg, even though she is a great fighter, she doesn't have the sex appeal of Carano.

One of the most searched terms on Google for this week has been Gina Carano Playboy photos, which don't exist and never did. But everyone wants to see them if they did and can't wait until she decides to pose. I don't think posing for Playgirl would do the same thing for a male fighter. I don't want to see Brock  naked, or in a speedo, but I would not mind seeing Carano, not Cyborg, and I think you will agree with me.

Gina Carano is a huge internet and MMA draw because she can fight a little and is fighting a "beast" of another fighter who even has a beast nickname. Cyborg. I would be interested to hear your comments.

Carano will be fighting Cyborg this Saturday on Showtime.

The fight promotion company Strikeforce (or as Dana White calls them Strikefarce) is having its first fight card since trumping the Ultimate Fighting Championship for the rights to feature Fedor Emelianenko in the U.S., CEO and founder Scott Coker expects to be the company's most important show in the 25 years he's been in the fight promotion business, that shows what a pathetic promoter he is when 2 girls fighting in MMA is the biggest event he has ever promoted.

 Gina Carano, is the reason for all the hype, she is very famous even outside of the MMA ring, and is ranked by Yahoo as one of the 10 most influential women in 2008. She will be facing Brazilian mauler Cristiane "Cyborg" Santos . Strikefarce is banking heavily on the fight to deliver ratings and help save what little credibility the promotion company has.

Cyborg has  seven consecutive wins since her pro debut which she lost. She is known for her viscious style and brutality.  Who will win would seem to go to who will survive the battle. Both these fighters like to mix it up, but no one knows for sure how Carano can withstand Cyborg's power. If it goes to the ground, I am picking Carano. If it stays a stand up I am picking Cyborg and this means Strikefarce will lose it biggest draw and will be forced to put their boy Fedor against another chump to get some ratings. I could be wrong, but I never am.
