After Michael Jackson's death, memorials, funeral and wake, his past musical and acting projects are beginning to resurface and take on a life of their very own. One such is that of the short film Captain EO.
Captain EO (1986) is a 3-D film starring The King of Pop and directed by Francis Ford Coppola that was shown at Disney theme parks in the 1980s and 1990s, and again in Disneyland Park in California beginning in January 2010. Due to Jackson's death, and not unlike other artistic renditions, and music videos, the film has sprung back to life!
The film's executive producer was George Lucas. Featured were two songs ("We Are Here to Change the World" and "Another Part of Me") by Michael Jackson.
The movie tells the story of Captain EO (Jackson) and the ragtag crew of his spaceship on a mission to deliver a gift to a wicked alien leader, the Witch Queen, (Anjelica Huston) of which her home is a world of rotting, twisted metal and steaming vents.
I know certainly, when one job draws to a close, that I feel I'm simply never going to work again. No one will ever want me for anything ever again. I think that's a vulnerable moment in every actor's life, and it happens every time you finish a film. " ~ Anjelica Huston
Upon arriving on the planet, the captain and crew are captured and sentenced to torture. Before being sent away, EO tells the Witch Queen that he sees the beauty hidden within her, and that he brings her the key to unlock it: his song, "We Are Here To Change The World".
The two robot members of the crew transform into musical instruments, and the crew members begin to play them. An accident from one of the crew stops the music, so the spell is broken. The Witch Queen orders her guards to recapture Captain EO and his crew.
The crew manages to free themselves and runs away, leaving Captain EO to fight the queen's warriors alone. The end result of the fight, EO is able to use his power to transform the Witch Queen into a beautiful woman, her lair into a peaceful Greek temple and the planet into a verdant paradise.

The meaning of life is contained in every single expression of life. It is present in the infinity of forms and phenomena that exist in all of creation.” ~ Michael Jackson
A celebration ensues to the tune of "Another Part of Me", and EO and his crew triumphantly exit and fly off into space. Another tune, rather tribute in song, is by Erich Bergen.
Since the death of Michael Jackson on June 25, 2009, the short movie has regained popularity on the internet on such sites as Twitter and Facebook, as well as MTV.com's movie blog. Many fans have suggested that The Walt Disney Company should bring the Tomorrowland attraction back to Disneyland Park.
It has been confirmed that Captain EO will return to its original home in Tomorrowland at Disneyland Park in California beginning January,2010. So far, Disneyland Park in California is the only park that will host the film. Here is hoping that Disney World will do the same in Orlando, Florida. ~ Michael was all for making the world a better place.

Cool cool MJ! May your goodwill messages live on. Always miss and remember you Michael Jackson
That's a nice Disney tribute to Michael :)
Like Michael Jackson once said (In the making of Ghosts), "todays cutting edge will be tomorrows classics". He was ahead of his time. Captain EO is indeed a classic and Disney should honor his genius. The making of Captain EO was a revelation on how professional and supertalented Michael Jackson was. Nobody can do it like Michael Jackson!!! Thank you Disney.
