William Shatner, known around the world as the portrayer of Captain James T. Kirk from the “Star Trek” TV and film franchise and the longtime spokesperson for Priceline.com will be beaming into the Cobb Energy Center to greet Trek fans on Sunday January 13, 2013. The 81 year-old actor who has an impressive body of work from films, TV and the stage will take his audience through his very interesting life in a production called “Shatner’s World: We Just Live In It”. Shatner will no doubt discuss his amazing career, the “Trek” universe and his personal and professional relationships and perhaps give some sort of performance while doing it.
Besides his many years portraying the invincible and courageous captain of the starship Enterprise, Shatner also played the world famous; womanizing senior partner at Crane Poole & Schmidt Denny Crane on the David E. Kelley legal drama “Boston Legal” on ABC for five seasons. Shatner won a Golden Globe and two Primetime Emmys for the role on “Boston Legal” and “The Practice”. Shatner also played a role in the popularity of reality shows. He hosted popular series on CBS called “Rescue 9-1-1” for seven seasons.
As the front man for Priceline.com, a new generation is becoming familiar with his work on TV. One of his many distinctions includes being part of the first televised interracial kiss with “Star Trek” cast mate Nichelle Nichols who played the alluring Lt. Uhura in 1968.
Tickets to William Shatner’s “Shatner’s World: We Just Live In It” are available through Ticketmaster. The two-hour one night only event is set for Sunday January 13, 2013 at 7 p.m. at the Cobb Energy Performing Arts Center.
