Remember the exciting misadventures of Captain Jack Sparrow? Well the infamous captain might be returning to the big screen in 2017. The news was announced on Wednesday by Walt Disney Pictures. ComingSoon.net also surfaced the news.
A date has even been set for the film’s release. It will be on July 7, 2017. As far as a title, the source says it was previously said to have the subtitle of “Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales.”
Filming locations will include New Orleans and Puerto Rico, this according to Hallels. The movie source also spoils that “Dead Men Tell No Tales” will begin with a pirate wedding. Could Jack Sparrow be tying the knot? Highly unlikely.
The series debuted over 10 years ago, back in 2003, with “Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.” We all (well, not so much the youngsters) remember Johnny Depp, and back-then heartthrob, Orlando Bloom, from the series.
While Depp will reprise his role as Captain Jack Sparrow, Keira Knightley and Orlando Bloom will not be making an appearance. Also not returning is Penelope Cruz as Angelica.
Johnny Depp has starred in every film, the most recent one being “Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides” (2011). Depp starred alongside Penelope Cruz, Ian McShane, and Sam Clafilin in that chapter. “On Stranger Tides” collected over $1 billion at the worldwide box office. Together, all “Pirates of the Caribbean” films have accumulated over $3.7 billion at the worldwide box office.
According to the source, the screenplay for the fifth installment has been provided by Jeff Nathanson (“Catch Me If You Can). “Pirates of the Caribbean 5” will be produced by jerry Bruckheimer.
