Captain America is back in “Captain America: The Winter Soldier.” The new trailer will be accompanying “Thor: The Dark World” when it opens in theaters next weekend. All superhero fans will be happy to know that Marvel Studio and Walt Disney Pictures will be releasing two films each year (as they did in 2013).
Unlike the Thor and Iron Man sequels, “The Winter Soldier” is not at all like the original movie. The first Captain America movie was set in the 1940s with Nazis and our army at war. This storyline finds Cap out of his own timeline in a modern age. It’s Marvel’s way of handling a re-boot of the Captain America series. There will be new villains and deadlier weapons as a patriotic Cap tries to acclimate to his situation.
Robert Redford will join the cast as Alexander Pierce, a S.H.I.E.L.D. executive, along with Chris Evans, Sebastian Stan, Emily VanCamp, Samuel L. Jackson, Cobie Smulders, Scarlett Johansson, Toby Jones, Anthonie Mackie, Frank Grillo, Hayley Atwell, Maximiliano Hernandez and Georges St-Pierre..
The official synopsis goes like this:
After the cataclysmic events in New York with The Avengers, Marvel’s 'Captain America: The Winter Soldier' finds Steve Rogers, aka Captain America, living quietly in Washington, D.C. and trying to adjust to the modern world. But when a S.H.I.E.L.D. colleague comes under attack, Steve becomes embroiled in a web of intrigue that threatens to put the world at risk. Joining forces with the Black Widow, Captain America struggles to expose the ever-widening conspiracy while fighting off professional assassins sent to silence him at every turn. When the full scope of the villainous plot is revealed, Captain America and the Black Widow enlist the help of a new ally, the Falcon. However, they soon find themselves up against an unexpected and formidable enemy—the Winter Soldier.
“Captain America: The Winter Soldier” hits theaters on April 4, 2014.
