For the third weekend in a row, Marvel Studios/Walt Disney Pictures' "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" was No. 1 at the U.S. and Canadian box office for the weekend ending April 20, 2014. According to a Box Office Mojo report published on April 20, the superhero sequel "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" (starring Chris Evans as Captain America) had 26.6 million in ticket sales for the weekend ending April 20, 2014.

Three other movies opened in wide release in the U.S. and Canada on April 18, 2014:

TriStar Pictures' religious drama "Heaven Is for Real" (starring Greg Kinnear) debuted at No. 3, with $21.5 million in ticket sales.

Warner Bros. Pictures' sci-fi thriller "Transcendence" (starring Johnny Depp) debuted at No. 4, with $11.15 million in ticket sales.

Open Road Films' horror comedy "A Haunted House 2" (starring Marlon Wayans) debuted at No. 5, with $9.1 million in ticket sales.

According to Box Office Mojo, here are the Top 5 movies in the U.S. and Canada for the weekend ending April 20, 2014:

1. "Captain America: The Winter Soldier" — $26.6 million

2. "Rio 2" — $22.5 million

3. "Heaven Is for Real" — $21.5 million

4. "Transcendence" — $11.15 million

5. "A Haunted House 2" — $9.1 million

Also noteworthy: Disney/Buena Vista's nature documentary "Bears" opened in semi-wide release and debuted at No. 11, with $4.8 million in ticket sales
