In a report made by Cinema Blend on Jan. 14, 2013, actor Anthony Mackie will be playing the Marvel character Falcon in "Captain America: The Winter Soldier". He's currently starring in the recent release of "Gangster Squad" starring Sean Penn.
A.I.C.N. had a interview with Mackie in regards to his role and other future films he'd be appearing in. But in regards to this portrayal as Cap's sidekick, Falcon, he had this to say:
"I will have wings. I will be able to fly. I will be a superhero and fight people, namely The Winter Soldier".
His reference to the central villain gives fans an idea of who, as an actor, will be working with Sebastian Stan, the actor portraying Winter Soldier.
Mackie isn't much a comic fan, but he has been doing research with his brother on the subject who is indeed a big nerd when it comes to comic books. When asked if he would have in his company an actual falcon sidekick by the name of "Redwing", Mackie, laughing, had this to say:
"This is the first job I got asked to do first, and you’re trying to get me fired first. I have no idea what you’re talking about."
Though, considering the consequences of his actions if he ever does say a word, one would have to think the answer to that question would be likely be in our thoughts.
To give an idea into the origin of Falcon, he is a Marvel character that goes by his true identity of Sam Wilson. His real life background takes him to the streets of Harlem and due to his parents being killed, lead him to a life of crime. Later, while doing a job in South America, he came across Red Skull and his followers who were in hiding and decided to use Sam Wilson against Captain America and was thrust upon him the power of the Cosmic Cube the ability to telepathically communicate with the birds.
