Argentinian garage rock band Capsula, originally from Buenos Aires and now based in Bilbao, Spain, just released their latest album titled Solar Secrets through Krian Music Group. The trio are crowd favorites at SXSW among several other festivals and have played Austin Psych Fest, CMJ, Culture Collide, NrmA, and Primavera Sound.
New to me, I was instantly taken by the bands wild sounds and melodic songs that took me back to some of the bands that used to make those 7-12 minute epics back in the day. The bands first worldwide release displays a band ready for the world stage. For a band that took on re-recording David Bowie’s epic “Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars” (Suffragette City video) that sounds good to me, although bassist/vocals Coni Dutchess wouldn’t comment on Bowie making any comments on it (we shared a laugh over that one) she was enthusiastic about the music and where they have been and come from. They also use automatism and Cut-up techniques to write songs in English, using phrases from songs, Dylan Thomas poems, movies, and their own dreams while recording. In other words, the world is game as in the worlds in our own minds eyes.
Solar Secrets is a worthy addition to any library and will take you on a journey of the mind so go pick it up today!

Interview with Dutchess of Capsula
**Edited for space and correctness. Due to some accent issues back and forth you can listen to the interview on Soundcloud or YouTube with some pictures and music at the link below.
Capsula, you are new to me so lets get to the early stuff first, you started in the 90’s in Argentina; can you talk about how the band formed and ultimately ended up in Spain?
Our thing was to tour like our idols. So we decided to move to Europe as the distances are shorter here. To tour in Argentina it was many hours and distances for a band starting out.
I see that the band has done many big festivals and are very popular at SXSW, what is the bands festival and tour plans for the next few months are so.
For the next month we are with Os Mutantes who are a big reference for us and then SXSW and then we play summer festivals in Europe so we will be here by summer.
I also just saw that you re-recorded the entire Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars album by David Bowie; not only is that insanely cool but can you talk about that and did you do any shows around that album?
(Laughs a lot) No, I cannot say! We did not know if people would hate us for playing such a classic album (laughs) but we learned a lot from that experience.
Now for the new album Solar Secrets which is my introduction to the band, you worked with Tony Visconti who produced David Bowie, Iggy Pop, and T. Rex just to name a few, what was that experience like?
It was the best experience in our lives. It was the chance of working and creating with one of our musical heroes.
You are coming here to Syracuse with Os Mutantes on November 10th, what can I expect at the show and what will the fans experience?
I think a lot of people enjoy our records but they say that our live shows are a special experience. You have to see us; you have to see us live! There is a lot of communication between the band and the audience.
Lastly, what would you like to say to the fans and readers out there?
What can I say, follow your dreams and listen to rock and roll! We have to keep rock and roll alive!
