This past weekend, beer lovers from all over descended upon Shirlington,VA for Capitol City Brewing's first annual SpringFest! Attendees were greeted with live music, tasty food samples, and a huge variety of beer to enjoy. Capitol City unveiled its first batch of seasonal Hefeweizen, a German-style wheat beer at the event. The Sommer Hefeweizen is served unfiltered with distinct notes of banana and clove derived from the fermentation with a special Bavarian yeast strain. More than 45 local breweries including Port City, Mad Fox, Lost Rhino, Hardywood Park Craft Brewery, Apocalypse Ale Works, Sunken City and Lickinghole Creek set up at the the Fest, drawing positive reviews from goers. Amy V. drove down from Bethesda, MD with friends to enjoy several 4 ounce samples, saying, "I love it! We got to try a number of beers we wouldn't normally have known about." David K. echoed her sentiments saying, "We're having a great time! The crowd here is really cool and we're having fun just hanging out and enjoying the music."
Over 4000 attendees stopped by the various vendors, each overjoyed at the selection and how smooth SpringFest was run. Billy B. from Reston, VA commented, "This place is packed but I haven't had to wait longer than 30 seconds to get a sample. Checking in was quick and easy and the food has been awesome! I'll definitely be back here."
