Capital Tartlet Month

Tartine, Tatin, and Tartare are all culinary terms the average person may never get a chance to utter in everyday conversation. Now, thanks to the exceptionally healthy Litestars restaurant in Washington, D.C. the average Joe can say "Hello Tartlet!" for entire month of September. That's because its Capital Tartlet Month.

Litestars the kind of fast fare authors of the book Eat This, Not That! might just appreciate. The restaurant serves things like cold soup-drinks (carrot, sweet potato, eggplant), gourmet salads and savory tartlets.

While fruit tarts are a staple in DC, most restaurants don’t offer a savory counterpart – except for Litestars® in the Golden Triangle. Boasting a variety of vegetarian and hearty meat options, the high-fiber, individually-sized Tartlets are a lite cuisine-on-a-crust that is a quick and healthy alternative to high-fat sandwiches or pizza.

Celebrating their “Capital Tartlet Month,” Litestars will offer all tartlets at 20% off – meaning guests can grab a healthy and nutritious lunch, and experience the true taste of healthy for as low as $2.68. Nutritional Chef and tartlet creator Annie Leconte will also celebrate Capital Tartlet Month by hosting a tartlet demonstration for guests on Saturday, September 24 from noon- 2pm. In the central kitchen, Chef Annie will highlight the strong nutritional components of the tartlets and will also provide guests with her specialty tartlet mold to take home. Attendance is free and includes a free menu sampling with a complimentary mimosa.

So if you want to celebrate Tartlet Month by participating in Chef Leconte's class you'll need a reservation. You can get one by emailing rsvp@lindarothpr.com.

And if you want to get your tart on, you'll need to have the address: Like to see it? Here it is:

Healthy tartlets and a culinary class with a first class chef... it just doesn't get any better than that.
