Persistent upper level low pressure will remain parked over New York and New England for the duration of the weekend. Though the sun will peak through the clouds from time to time this weekend, a general overcast, along with bouts of light rain and/or snow showers, will be commonplace. Temperatures will be tempered this weekend, as the strengthening March sun will not be allowed to warm the surface for too long a duration of time. Normal high temperatures are in the upper 30’s for this time of year, with normal low temperatures in the lower 20’s. Forecast high and low temperatures for the next couple days are forecast to be within this general range.
High pressure slowly clears out the cloud cover to start the new work week, and temperatures look to respond, rising into levels slightly above normal for this time of year by midweek next week. At this point in time, the Capital Region looks to dodge a bullet from a major storm system that is forecast to develop over the center of the nation on Monday. This storm system is forecast to track to the east and pass over the Carolina coastline and out to the open waters of the Atlantic by midweek. The present track looks to be non-threatening one for our region, though as always, we will continue to monitor the situation and should it look as if the track may deviate a bit to the north, the region may have cause for concern.
