Weakening low pressure was located over the upper Great Lakes this morning while as a developing storm was taking shape over the Carolina coastline. Energy from the Great Lakes low pressure area will slowly feed into the developing coastal storm today. As the evening approaches, the coastal storm is forecast to track to a position east of the Delmarva Peninsula, before exhibiting more of the northeasterly movement to a position south of Cape Cod by Sunday morning. The storm is then forecast to move well out into the open waters of the northern Atlantic during the day on Sunday. The current system track lends itself to more of a light precipitation event for the bulk of the region during the day today, with more enhancement in precipitation expected well to the south, and especially for boating and marine interests over the Atlantic Ocean. An inch or two of slushy, wet snow may accumulate over the region tonight, though with temperatures near to slightly below freezing, the snow’s ability to stick around for too long should be tenuous at best.
A disturbance in the upper levels of the atmosphere will pass to the north of the region during the day on Sunday, bringing a renewed chance for some rain and/or snow showers during the day. Once again, nothing of major significance is anticipated, though some slushy, wet snow may coat the ground at times.
High pressure builds into the region by Sunday night, and lasts through the day on Monday before another strong storm system approaches from the south for Tuesday through the midweek period. Despite all the storminess, temperatures look to hold their own through the entire forecast period, with near normal temperatures anticipated throughout, and no major cold snaps anticpated.

Tonight: Overcast with periods of light rain and/or snow persisting. Low near 30. Light southeast winds early, shifting north late at night. Chance of precipitation is 70 percent. An inch or less of slushy snow accumulation is possible.
Sunday: Overcast with a chance of rain and/or snow showers. High near 40. Northwest winds 5-10 MPH. Chance of precipitation is 50 percent. Little if any additional snow accumulation expected.
Sunday Night: Mostly cloudy to start, with clouds gradually decreasing overnight. Low in the upper 20’s. Light northwest winds.
Monday: Morning clouds giving way to a mix of sun and clouds during the afternoon. High near 40. Northwest winds 5-15 MPH.
Tuesday: Increasing clouds. High near 40 and low near 30.
Wednesday: A 60 percent chance of rain and/or snow showers. High near 45 and low near 30.
Thursday: A 40 percent chance of rain and/or snow showers. High near 40 and low near 30.
