Capital Region weather forecast: Unsettled weather as upper level low lingers (Photos)

A slow moving upper level low pressure system will remain in the vicinity of the northeastern continental United States through the coming weekend. Disturbances will rotate around this feature, and through the Capital Region over the course of this time. While it does not appear as if any of the disturbances will be significant precipitation producers, production of abundant cloud cover, and the occasional flurry, sprinkle, or light rain/snow shower from time to time cannot be ruled out.

High pressure will gradually build into the region for the start of the new work week. Meanwhile, a storm system looks to develop over the center of the nation on Monday, and work its way to the Carolina Coastline by midweek next week. At this point in time, indications suggest that this storm should remain well south of our region, and the forecast is for the storm to take an east-northeasterly path out to sea, not paralleling the Atlantic coast, as its predecessors have.

Temperatures through the forecast period look to average near seasonal normal, while as precipitation amounts are forecast to be near to slightly below normal.
