We're getting close to the fall festival season, when events pop up with the frequency of toadstools after a warm rain.
One of the more interesting ones is the Capital Region Apple & Wine Festival, set for September 14-15 at the Altamont Fair Grounds in Albany County. It offers 125 juried crafters, cooking demonstrations featuring local chefs, wine sampling and sales featuring New York State wineries, as well as crafts, face painting and pumpkin painting, clowns, bounces, a variety of foods, apples, pumpkins, cider, doughnuts, and live entertainment.
As an inducement to raise food and funds for the Regional Food Bank of Northeastern New York, anyone bringing a non-perishable food item or making a monetary donation to the food bank will receive a $1 off their next purchase of $10 or more at Altamont Orchards Farm Market, located at 6654 Dunnsville Road in Altamont, between September 19 and October 31.
The fair grounds is located at 129 Grand Street in this Albany County community.
