CAPIC Cats requests donations for garage sale this week

If you are overdue to start your spring cleaning, here’s your chance to donate all those gently used, small household items you no longer need to a great cause. The Cat Adoption & Pet Information Center, better known as CAPIC Cats, has scheduled a garage sale this Friday and Saturday, May 16 and 17, in Raritan, New Jersey. Update: Dates/times have changed since first publication due to inclement weather on Friday. New time is Saturday, May 17, beginning at 6:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. Check back with CAPIC Cats to find out if Sunday, May 18 sale will take place.

“All proceeds generated from our garage sale will be used for the medical treatment of the kittens and cats that we rescue,” said Hope Valenti, spokesperson for CAPIC. “We specialize in Trap-Neuter-Return (TNR), and our monthly medical expenses can be quite high during kitten season, which is now upon us.”

Every cat or kitten that is rescued by CAPIC volunteers is spayed or neutered and receives FIV / FLV testing and vaccinations. If a cat or kitten is found ill, it is fostered and medically cared for until it is well enough to either be released back to its colony or put up for adoption.

CAPIC relies entirely on foster care for their adoptable cats and kittens. Volunteers are always welcome. They run pet adoptions regularly at Amwell Pet Supply in Hillsborough.

Donations of small, gently used household items in good condition are being accepted at 6 Bell Avenue, Raritan up until the day of the sale which will take place at the same location. Garage sale hours are 8 a.m. – 3 p.m. both days. Update: Dates/times have changed since first publication due to inclement weather on Friday. New time is Saturday, May 17, beginning at 6:30 a.m. until 3 p.m. Check back with CAPIC Cats to find out if Sunday, May 18 sale will take place.

Please email catnabber1@yahoo.com with specific questions and to arrange the delivery of items. CAPIC is a 501(c)(3) organization and therefore can provide tax donation receipts to those who ask for documentation.

Make sure you come back and shop during the garage sale hours. There will be a variety of items on display, and you just might find that treasure you’ve been looking for.
