The 13th Annual Corvette Christmas Toy Run, organized by the Cape Kennedy Corvette Club, will take place on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2013. The caravan will leave Eckler's Corvette Parts, 5140 S. Washington Ave., (U.S.1) in Titusville, at 2:00 p.m. sharp. The Brevard County Sheriffs Office will provide a police escort to Rusty's Seafood and Oyster Bar in Port Canaveral. Participants and viewers are encouraged to bring new, unwrapped toys to the event.
Immediately following the run, there will be a get-together on the waterfront deck at Rusty's, which is a great place to watch the cruise ships depart. And to add to the merriment, the new Exploration Tower at Port Canaveral will be open. The Tower allows visitors to navigate a pilot boat through the harbor using a realistic simulator, get a bird's eye view of the Port and surrounding area from the 7th story observation deck, as well as explore interactive exhibits.
The Cape Kennedy Corvette Club currently has 106 members. There were four astronauts among its original membership when it was founded in 1967. For more information on the club or to join, contact George Halkovic:
