Cape Cod Waterfront Dining at Provincetown's Lobster Pot

After a day on one of Cape Cod’s many beaches savor Portuguese-influenced seafood while enjoying spectacular waterfront views of Provincetown beach and the historic MacMillan Wharf.

The Lobster Pot’s Cape Cod seafood menu

The menu at the Lobster Pot reflects Provincetown’s long fishing history as well as the Portuguese influence on Cape Cod. Seafaring men from the Algarve and Azores in Portugal made their way to Cape Cod in the early 19 th century and Portuguese culture has been part of the Cape ever since.

Although it may be difficult to resist ordering Chef Tim McNulty’s prize winning clam chowder, it is worth taking a step away from Cape’s seafood to try the Lobster Pot’s Portuguese Soup full of linguica, chourizo, kale and beans.

Specialty bouillabaisses at Provincetown’s Lobster Pot

Chef McNulty’s signature dishes are his bouillabaisses. Here the Portuguese character enhances the Shellfish Algarve Osso Bucco and Sopa do Mar. Asian and Cajun style bouillabaisses provide savory variety.

These bouillabaisses can be enhanced with a half or whole lobster, but be warned, this makes for a big meal all by itself. Lobster, as the restaurant’s name implies, is available in multiple ways.

At the Lobster Pot a variety of fish can be prepared to order and there are fried seafood options, a staple on Cape Cod, to round out the seafood choices.   But those who are not fond of fish are not left out. There is also a choice of pasta based vegetarian dishes and meat or chicken main course options.

The Lobster Pot offers lighter fare … and a cookbook

The Lobster Pot starts serving at 1130 am and offers salads and sandwiches for a quick meal or light snack. The full bar features signature iced coffee drinks as well as a reasonable wine list.

If you really like what you’ve eaten at Provincetown’s Lobster Pot, pick up a copy of the Lobster Pot Cookbook as you make your way out.. Soon you’ll be making that award winning Cape Cod style Clam Chowder or Shellfish Algarve and wowing your friends.

The Lobster Pot is a great place to stop along the Provincetown waterfront after your whale watching trip or as a break following exploration of Race Point Beach and the Provincelands. Afterwards you can work off the meal by visiting the Pilgrim Monument and Provincetown Museum for great views of Cape Cod and glimpse into the area’s history.
