Capcom recently revealed that Mega Man will be playable in Street Fighter X Tekken. Instead of using his normal design, however, Capcom decided to base the blue bomber’s look off of the infamous cover art from the original Mega Man game. A few fans weren’t understandably upset with the developer’s design. Yoshinori Ono recently responded to some complaints. You can check out the first screens of Mega Man, as well as Pac-Man and the other characters, in the slideshow to the left of this article and Yoshinori Ono’s comments from Twitter below:
When one fan asked why did Capcom decided to based Mega Man’s character design off of the cover art from the first game, Yoshinori Ono responded by saying that it was the result of a consultation with Keiji Inafune:
I consulted with Mr.Megaman(his name is Mr.I...) about it 1 years ago.Its result! ;D RT @kazuyafan94:Lovin Megaman inSFxTK!But why cover art
Another fan complained about Mega Man and the other “guest” characters taking up space that could be used for more traditional fighters like Karin. Yoshinori Ono issued the following response to that statement:
they are not use it space. they're Guest. SF and TK Chara will be use it space! ;D RT @SeijuroDaGreat: i dont understand how u can waste character space on PAC MAN and MEGA MAN, and not put KARIN in sf x tk??
Finally, Capcom’s producer promised that they will be announcing even more characters for the crossover fighting game and that there won’t be any more guests:
We'll be announce more characters from SF and TK series. its not Guest character. ;D Plz wait next news-release!! ;D
Street Fighter is slated to launch for the Playstation 3 and Xbox 360 in North America on March 6th. It will also come out at a later time for the PC and PS Vita.
