Imagine this. Liberal Democrat Barack Obama has been president for almost five years now and his far left allies have controlled the U.S. Senate the whole time. Obama had a liberal Democrat-controlled Congress during the first two years of his presidency, during which time he got almost everything passed he wanted, including numerous “stimulus” bills and ObamaCare. Unemployment remains at recession levels and the leftist and George Soros-funded Center for American Progress (CAP) puts out a report blaming Republicans for this high unemployment we have. You have to wonder if these people are taking injectable drugs!
Here's how the report makes this bizarre argument. They same that we've been under a policy of “fiscal austerity” since the January of 2011, which happens to be when the Republican majority in the Congress elected in 2010 took office. They ignore, of course, that fact that the Senate and White House were still run by liberal Democrats.
Fiscal austerity since January of 2011? Really? Let's start with a good definition of austerity, which is, according to dictionary.com, “austere quality; severity of manner, life, etc.; sternness; strict economy; reduced availability of luxuries and consumer goods, especially when brought about by government policy, an austerity budget.” The words austere as it applies here, means, “without excess, luxury, or ease; simple.”
This is laughable. We're added $6.5 trillion to the national debt, well really President Obama and the Congress has added that debt in nearly doubling the national debt, and these leftist kooks call that “austerity.” So apparently, they say we've been practicing “austerity” because we added only $6.5 trillion to the national debt instead of adding another $12 to $20 trillion to the national debt.
If we had gone on such a spending spree, larger than the one we did go on, which they call quite laughably “austerity,” that in September of this year the economy would have added 260,000 jobs (a tiny number compared to the 800,000 added some months during the Reagan recovery of the 1980s that was fueled by economic growth rather than excessive government spending), that government falsified unemployment rate would be below 6 percent instead of the current more than 8 percent, and that economy while Obama has been in office would have added 8.2 million jobs (mostly part time of course), which is 2.4 million more than what the government now claims was added.
Here is where the report blames Republicans, when it says, “the midterm elections in November 2010 infused American government with a caustic new breed of politics—both in Congress and in many state capitols across the country—which, beginning in January 2011, had an immediate chilling effect on jobs and growth policies.” What they call “jobs and growth policies” are government spending, because the far left doesn't believe in growing the private sector, they believe only in growing government.
The report references all the glorious “progressive” things that could be done if we would just let the far left take control of government and spend out of control on everything they want. But they say this was thwarted, and that, “But none of this is possible when a minority faction can take its own party hostage, paralyzing the government that plays such an indispensable role in our complex, modern market economy.”
That's a snide reference to the TEA Party-supported faction of the Republican Party, the faction that might be a minority of the GOP but represents a majority of the American people who want smaller government, lower taxes, a growing private sector and more freedom.
The report is typical far left fantasy, that if we just spend all the money we have and don't have and then even more, it will magically give us a more jobs and a growing economy, no matter how many centuries it might take us to pay off the national debt, or whether our “friends” at the Bank of China will continue to up the credit line on that gigantic credit card we continue to charge up for all this spending. It should be noted that the Bank of China has money to lend because they're practicing more capitalism as we are practicing more socialism. Ironic isn't it?
If we had practiced real austerity and slashed the federal budget to the bone, lowered taxes and eliminated most regulations, we would have seen a growing economy that would have created so many private sector jobs that we might see unemployment right now below four percent and almost everyone who wants a job, back to work again. And we'd see 600,000 or more jobs created every month, and good full time jobs most of them. It would also require scrapping ObamaCare entirely, because that is nothing but a jobs killer that will do nothing to make a single person healthier either.
We could have had a real recovery. But too many of us went to the polls on election day and voted for liberal Democrats, not to mention all the vote fraud that also helped elect many of those liberal Democrats. The well-informed among us know that voter fraud was rampant, which is why we demand election reforms like voter ID laws. But far left liberal remain voter fraud deniers, but that's another issue.
The CAP report is a joke. Typical Soros-funded propaganda and goes counter to what we know about economics, government, and even common sense. If the color of the sky in your world is green, you might just believe the sophistry they shovel out, such as this latest report.
