The Canton Charge will be partnering up with Akron/Canton-based Longbridge Wealth Advisors in support of Domestic Violence Project, Inc. during the Friday, March 14, 2014 7:00 p.m. game against the Los Angeles D-Fenders. The team will be wearing special white and purple jerseys to help raise awareness of Domestic Violence Project, Inc., a local non-profit organization that offers support and treatment for victims of domestic violence and crime.
“We are thrilled to partner with Longbridge Wealth Advisors and the Canton Charge to provide us this opportunity to bring domestic violence awareness to the forefront of our local community,” said Nancy Jackson, marketing and development coordinator for Domestic Violence Project, Inc. “The funds and exposure from this night will provide a huge boost in our efforts to assist victims in our area.”
During the game, each active Canton Charge player will wear a uniform adorned with the Domestic Violence Project, Inc as well as the Longbridge Wealth Advisors logos. During the contest, fans will have the ability to bid on each individual player’s jersey during a silent auction held on the concourse. After the game, each Charge player will personally autograph and present their jersey to the winning fan with the highest bid during an on court ceremony.
“This partnership presents the opportunity for us to be able to help spread awareness and contribute to the excellent work that Domestic Violence Project, Inc. does throughout Stark County,” said Charge VP/COO Alan Mowrey. “We would like this night to be the benchmark for the Charge to be able to assist other non-profit organizations like this in teaming up to better our community.”
The partnership works in conjunction with the Charge’s community initiatives and the NBA D-League Cares programs. Through NBA D-League Cares, the Charge work to address important social issues with a special emphasis on programs that support education, local community building and youth basketball. NBA D-League teams host a variety of outreach projects that strive to enrich the lives of people who live and work in their nearby communities.
Through the NBA D-League’s programs, teams also establish a close connection to their local communities by providing unparalleled time and access to the players, coaches and staff.
