Canton sends a third-round pick to Rio Grande in exchange for the forward
The Canton Charge announced that they have acquired forward Terrance Thomas (6-6, 230, Baylor) from the Reno Bighorns in a three-team deal. Canton sent Sioux Falls’ third round pick in the 2012 NBA D-League draft that they had previously acquired from the Skyforce to Rio Grande Valley and Reno received Ernest Scott from the Vipers to complete the trade.
Thomas, 31, had played in 30 of Reno’s games this season (18 starts) and is averaging 12.4 points on .491 shooting with 7.7 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.4 steals in 32.7 minutes per game. This is his third season in the D-League, having previously played with the Fort Worth Flyers and the Bakersfield Jam. Terrance has played in 125 D-League games (53 starts) and boasts career averages of 10.4 points on .487 shooting with 7.1 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.0 steal in 28.0 minutes per game.
Prior to making his return to the D-League with Reno this season, Thomas spent the previous two seasons playing professionally in Mexico with Hermosillo and Soles de Mexicali. He played in 25 games in 2011 for Hermosillo and averaged 12.3 points on .554 shooting with 8.1 rebounds, 4.8 assists and 2.0 blocks in 31.6 minutes per game. Thomas appeared in 33 games for Soles de Mexicali during the 2010-2011 season and averaged 14.0 points on .531 shooting with 7.1 rebounds, 3.7 assists and 1.3 steals in 33.0 minutes per game.
Terrance was a 2004 All-Big 12 honorable mention when he averaged 15.9 points on .411 shooting with 6.9 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.0 steal for the Bears. Canton’s roster now stands at 10 going into their home matchup with the Bakersfield Jam at the Civic Center on Wednesday night at 7:00 p.m.
Manny Harris Named D-Leage Performer of the Week
Guard Earns Honor for Games Played From February 13-19
Charge guard Manny Harris (6-5, 185, Michigan) has been named the NBA Development League Performer of the Week for games played from February 13-19, the league announced today. Harris also earned the honor on January 30th, making him the first player in the league to do so twice this year. In two games last week, he averaged 41.0 pointson .574 shooting with 9.0 rebounds, 6.0 assists and 3.5 steals in 44.5 minutes per contest.
Harris had a season-high 46 points on 17-of-30 shooting with nine rebounds, six assists and four steals in 45 minutes in a 136-113 victory over Rio Grande Valley on February 16th. His 46 points were the second-most by an individual in any D-League game this season. He continued his strong offensive play by pouring in 36 points on 14-of-24 shooting with nine rebounds, six assists and three steals in 44 minutes to complete the two-game sweep of the Vipers on February 18th.
In 17 games (12 starts) with Canton this season, Harris is averaging 21.4 points on .470 shooting with 7.9 rebounds, 3.3 assists and 1.6 steals in 32.9 minutes per game. He is currently third in the D-League in scoring.
