Yet another outdoor photography contest has hit the scene as Canon USA announces “Canon Photography in the Parks.” Now through September 30, submit your nature or wildlife photo taken from any local, city, and county, State or National Park or Monument for consideration. Upon submission, each photo will be looked over by an approved staff member to ensure that it meets the criteria of the contest (i.e. no excessive photoshopping, and no persons (including shadows and silhouettes) or parts of persons (hand, feet, etc) are allowed in the photographs).

The contest will have both a teen age group (13-17 years old) and adult (18 years and older). Winners will be receiving 5day/4 night trip for two to the national park of their choice so they can go out into the wilderness and test out their new EOS 5D Mark II/ EF 24-105mm f/4L IS USM Kit and PIXMA Pro9500 Mark II Photo Printer. Each age group will also award prizes to a second and third place winner, along with six honorable mentions who will each receive a PowerShot G11. Photos will be judged on originality (0-25 points), artistic composition (0-25 points), photographic technique (0-25 points), and technical execution (0-25 points).

Need some help with your photographs? Throughout the summer Canon is offering a series of free seminars hosted by their own professional instructors. Attendees will also have the chance to shoot with a variety of Canon SLR’s and lenses. Seminars will be held at Yosemite, Grand Canyon, Jackson Hole, Yellowstone, and Acadia.
