Death metal legends Cannibal Corpse recently announced some details on their upcoming twelfth album, Torture, which will be released in March.
Drummer Paul Mazurkiewicz explained the sound of the album, saying it will be like “the frenzied attack of Butchered At Birth (1991) or Tomb Of The Mutilated (1992).”
Bassist Alex Webster commented, “We're extremely happy with how Torture turned out. Erik Rutan did an amazing job with the production, and the songwriting and performances may be our strongest yet. We can't wait until our fans get to hear the whole thing!”
The first single from the album, "Demented Aggression," can be heard here.
The entire track list is
1. Demented Aggression
2. Sarcophagic Frenzy
3. Scourge of Iron
4. Encased in Concrete
5. As Deep As the Knife Will Go
6. Intestinal Crank
7. Followed Home Then Killed
8. The Strangulation Chair
9. Caged…Contorted
10. Crucifier Avenged
11. Rabid
12. Torn Through
Cannibal Corpse’s last album, Evisceration Plague, was released in 2009, debuting at number 66 on the Billboard 200 Chart.
The album, like most from the band, was well received. Ultimate Guitar gave the album an 8.7 out of 10, writing, “In terms of brutal death metal, Cannibal Corpse continues to set the bar high. There is equal attention paid to both the rhythmic and lead aspects on Evisceration Plague, and while a few of the songs do sound similar, there are enough interesting musical sections along the way to hold your interest.”
