Cannibal cop found guilty of conspiring to eat women (Video)

According to the Huffington Post today, a jury found the NYPD officer Gilberto Valle, 28, guilty of conspiring to kidnap, torture and eat women. Valle, a.k.a. “Cannibal cop” was also found guilty of illegally accessing a national crime database to research his potential victims. When sentenced on June 19 the “Cannibal cop” faces life in prison.

There has been much ongoing controversy swirling around this case in regards to whether Valle was just fantasizing about killing and eating women, or actually conspiring to carry out such gruesome crimes. Gilberto Valle was arrested in October after his wife, Kathleen Mangan, tipped off authorities of his unspeakable plots. His , which whom he shares a daughter with, later testified against him in court last month.

When testifying Mangan described how she found disturbing messages he had written to a stranger about torturing and eating her. It was found that Valle performed extensive online research on kidnapping, making chloroform and cooking women. Huffington Post reports U.S. Attorney Preet Bharara said in a statement: "Today, a unanimous jury found that Gilberto Valle's detailed and specific plans to abduct women for the purpose of committing grotesque crimes were very real, and that he was guilty as charged. The Internet is a forum for the free exchange of ideas, but it does not confer immunity for plotting crimes and taking steps to carry out those crimes."
