The "Cannibal cop" was convicted based on charges that he conspired to kidnap and eat women. The cop, NYPD officer Gilberto Valle, was found guilty on these charges and he awaits sentencing. On March 13, Huffington Post reported that Valle faces life in prison for his "sick and twisted fantasy of torture."
As previously reported, the cop had plans to kidnap, cook, and eat 100 women. Numerous emails were found on his computer that detailed his crazy plot. He wrote about cooking women "over low heat" and eating their bodies. Gilberto Valle was arrested in October thanks to the "detective" work of his wife.
The Cannibal cop convicted chose not to hide his "weird proclivities" according to his lawyers. Their defense, however, is that no women were hurt and Valle's thoughts were just written down by him as sort of his escape from reality. This argument, however, did not stand up in court and a jury found him guilty. While the defense tried to convince the jury that Valle wasn't a dangerous man, they say that it was the "thought" alone that made them vote "guilty." The jury, for the record, voted unanimously.
"I'm in shock and want to be left alone," said Valle's mother after the verdict was read and her son was taken away. Unfortunately her son's fantasy world wasn't one that anyone wanted to live in.
The Cannibal cop, 28, was convicted on Tuesday in Manhattan.
